Mode 1: X% of Y = (X ÷ 100) × Y Mode 2: X is what % of Y = (X ÷ Y) × 100 Mode 3: Change from A to B = ((B − A) ÷ A) × 100
A negative result in mode 3 indicates a decrease.
Worked example
Mode 1: 18% of $240 = 0.18 × 240 = $43.20. Mode 2: 35 is what % of 80 → (35 ÷ 80) × 100 = 43.75%. Mode 3: change from $80 to $100 → ((100 − 80) ÷ 80) × 100 = +25%.
